Film Projects
1A ARTS etc ran four film projects during 2009: our existing junior film crew who already had several short films under their belts worked together in March to produce some short clips with an idea for a longer film – the DVD was sent to First Light Movies with a request for funding to complete a longer film. The group was thrilled to be given a First Light Movies award to produce a ten minute film which they worked on throughout October with editing in November 2009. Project partner London Transport Museum allowed us to use their wonderful Acton Depot as a film location which provided the inspiration for the film’s story. Once again Gus Houssein and Mita Banerjee from Pan Intercultural Arts worked with the group as film experts and mentors. Following a preview screening at the 1A Centre the film ‘Underground Tales’ will premiere at London Transport Museum’s state-of-the-art Cubic Theatre in Covent Garden. Our junior film-making group has been so popular and successful that in October 2009 half-term we ran new one day film workshops to introduce another twenty children to film-making. These workshops were run in partnership with Vital Regeneration’s FREQout! Project.
